Hello Everyone This is the first of the cocktail spotlight blogs! This cocktail is called a Harrington Hugo and a is a delightful summery drink with floral and fruity notes. As the summer is truly kicking off in quarantine, a fresh fruity drink to have on hand whilst sunbathing that takes seconds to make is a definite need! The Harrington Hugo is a 3 ingredient tipple consisting of equal parts Gin, Elderflower Liqueur and apple juice. For me I tend to use a cloudy apple juice to truly marry those flavours, as a standard cloudy juice has full body flavour and is well rounded. As some of you may know, the bar in my house has both Chase’s Elderflower liqueur and St Germains. I find that the Chase Elderflower is a better ingredient in this cocktail. Due to its thinner consistency and slightly harsher flavour it pairs well with the smooth cloudy apple and the rougher dry Gin.

This cocktail is traditionally drunk straight up or on the rocks, however for a longer drink it can be stretched with a tonic which keeps the punch but has a much softer, cooler drinking experience!

The Garnish for this drink is 1 or 2 parts. Normally I serve with an apple slice, as well as a sprig of rosemary along the rim of the glass (as pictured). You can however just serve with the rosemary - attached via a small peg, or even just hooked on to the rim.) The garnish here as a lovely aromatic and fresh element to the cocktail - completing the ensemble.

That's all for this post, Hope you enjoy the cocktail in this lovely weather L’chaim

Xander
