Hey Hey Hey! So by now you have maybe toured my site, had a look around, read a blog post, and most likely come across a few words terms or phrases you don't recognise! Well in this post will address some common terms used, as well as also attaching the glossary at the bottom to help clean up any confusion you may have.

The first terms you may come across are most likely equipment terms. These can range from Jiggers [small measuring tools] to mixing tins [those big metal cups we use to shake drinks]. You can also single or double strain. Single straining is just using a hawthorne strainer [that thing that looks like it has a spring on it]. A double strain, or fine strain is a strained with an additional fine strainer to in order to catch things like seeds or fruit pieces and other such things.

Another common cocktail item is a Garnish. The Garnish is the fancy addition on the side glass, this is used to impart flair and drama as well as make a cocktail more than just the drink, as typically they add strong aromatics and can also contribute flavor.

Other terms you may not recognise include things like over the rocks [which means on ice], Neat [from the bottle] or Straight Up [meaning the cocktail is just poured in the glass].

That's all the big ones i can think of so far. Any new terms will be explained at the bottom of the post, as well as the gallery being updated L’chaim. Xander
